The $1000 UV Video Challenge
UltiVillage.com is looking for a new Videographer/Editor to join the team this summer at the World Ultimate and Guts Championships in Vancouver, BC. We are looking for someone with a steady hand, good eye, and the ability to get things done quickly. Here is how the contest will work.

Speed – All entrants will be required to submit a tourney final summary within two days of the event (by Tuesday midnight EST/9pm PST for a Sunday final). The final will be edited to 7 minutes (+/- 30 seconds) and will contain at least 7 scores (no maximum) from 1 tourney final game. The game score must be posted after each score but all other editing decisions are up to the entrants. The final submission date is June 24th.

Filming – All entrants must submit a 5 minute film sample containing unedited footage of consecutive points from the same tourney final as their speed sample. All film sequences must begin before the pull and only stop 8 seconds after the score. Dead time can only be cut from between points or long stoppages in play, in which case the sample must include the play coming to a stop and the disc being checked back in. The film sample must be received with the speed sample.
Each entry from the Speed and Filming rounds will be posted on UVtv on Wednesdays (the day after they are received) for all to watch, but only UVtv subscribers will be able to rate the videos. All active UVtv members will be allowed to rate each submission once, over the course of the week after the clips are posted.
Editing – 9 finalists will be chosen (3 each from April (regionals), May and June) based on their combined film and speed ratings. Each finalist will receive the same 30 minutes of stock UV footage from which they will have 1 week to edit a highlight reel using the 1 song of their choice from a song list that UV will provide. The footage will be delivered on July 2nd and all submissions must be received no later than July 8th, midnight EST/9pm PST. Once again, all submissions will be rated by active UVtv members, and the best rated submission will decide the winner of the UV Video Contest, which will be announced on July 16th.
Because their will be limited regionals entries, April will be the easiest month to become a finalist, and all submissions are encouraged. There is no limit to the number of times a person can enter the contest and each entry will be considered independently. If an entrant qualifies twice (either in the same month or from different months) the 4th place entry from that month will also qualify (to maintain 9 finalists) but the double qualifier will have the opportunity to submit 2 highlight reels in the final challenge.
The winner of the UV Video Challenge will receive transportation to and from Vancouver, BC, lodging during the event, and a $1000 videography/editing contract that must be fulfilled from August 2nd to 10th 2008.
To enter the UV Video Challenge, you must email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it no later than 12 noon EST/9am PST on the Saturday of the tournament, with details of the tournament to be featured. I will then email you no later than 12 noon PST on the Monday after the event with the compression specs and submission details.
Please fire any questions you my way so that I can put together a FAQ for the contest. I look forward to your submissions.
Rob
